Hello. I am a qualified and experienced counsellor, my counselling practice is in Wrexham. I have worked with many different clients from different backgrounds. I have lots of experience working with young people who live with anxiety, low self-esteem and a lack of confidence. I have worked for a number of years outside in woodlands helping young people foster a deeper connection to nature in order to build confidence and reduce anxiety, and in recent years worked with adults out in a woodland setting running courses and one-to-one nature therapy alongside their counselling.
As an Integrative Counsellor I adapt my style to suit your individual needs, from a person-centered approach where I provide a non-judgemental, empathic space for you to explore your feelings, to a more solution-focused approach where I can help you set goals and work towards a more positive future for yourself.
Part of my work will involve developing a deeper connection to self and a greater understanding of why you react to things as you do, what your specific triggers are and where they come from. I will guide you towards knowing your own importance, nurturing yourself and beginning to put your own needs at the top of your list of priorities.
What to expect
You will always be in charge of the decision making process in your therapy, I will facilitate your own exploration of your issues and your personal goals. I will accept you and provide honest feedback, I will never ask you to relive traumatic experiences, and risk re-traumatising you. If you would like to talk through some difficult issues then it will be done in a gentle manner while having a ‘safe place’ to come back to if emotions start to run high. Sometimes we don’t need to look back into the past in order to move forward and sometimes it is ok to dip into the past but always from a safe place and with a sense of being fully in the present moment.
My main venue for counselling is in Ffrith, Wrexham where I have a garden room in a secluded garden. When the weather is good we can sit under the canopy of a birch tree or inside if weather is cold or wet.
I can also work in a woodland with clients, we meet in a private woodland close to Wrexham town centre. I talk through the contract and explain how outdoor therapy works on the first session. There is an opportunity to sit by a campfire or walk in the wider woodlands, this can all be discussed as we get to know one another. My outdoor counselling space is in the Erddig estate, Wrexham.
