My name is Lea Kendall. I am a Counsellor in Oswestry and Wrexham, I am also a Life Coach and Mindfulness in the Woods practitioner with a huge enthusiasm for life and helping others to achieve their goals. I work mainly people who live with anxiety and low self-esteem to build confidence. I believe working in nature can aid the healing process and reduce anxiety. I am experienced and trained in a variety of ways which can be drawn upon to help a diverse range of people and situations. I have a variety of outdoor spaces in Felin Puleston, Wrexham and an indoor venue to see clients in Oswestry.

Counselling or Life Coaching? Which one should I choose?

You may be wondering what the difference is between Counselling and Life Coaching, and maybe trying to decide which one is suitable for you. I will give you an overview so you can make an informed choice.


Counselling is a service available to everyone by a trained professional. Counselling can help you to talk about your feelings and thoughts, past, present or future issues that may be causing some distress. There are times when life can just feel like too much to cope with and we can feel overwhelmed and stressed, this can cause illness, mental health problems and sometimes depression and/or anxiety and at times suicidal thoughts. Counselling can help a person look at their life in a holistic way, support the person in making choices and work towards positive change. You will receive empathy, acceptance and a space where you can safely explore your feelings.

Counselling is NOT advice giving. You will not be judged or asked to do anything that you don’t want to do. Counselling does not involve being pushy and does not ever need to re-traumatise the person seeking help. For further information please visit the BACP website.

Life Coaching is a service which aims to empower others to make and achieve their goals in their personal and professional lives. In a session you can expect to explore areas in your life that are in need of development and work towards setting SMART goals which will enable you to make changes towards a better life for yourself. You can expect an environment where the coach is supportive, non-judgemental, accepting and at times gently challenging, in a nurturing way. You will not be made to do anything you don’t want to do and you will always be in charge and full control of all the decision making processes. You are the only person who knows what is best for you and so the coach will always respect that and be guided by you.

Life coaching is NOT counselling, however, in my service if something comes up that requires a more sensitive approach we can re-contract and shift our attention to a counselling relationship until you feel you are ready to get back to the more directive approach of life coaching.


Confidentiality Whether you choose life coaching or counselling, everything we discuss will be totally confidential. There are rare occasions in counselling when there might be a time when a disclosure is made and needs to be passed to someone other than myself, but this is explained fully in the first session and I would never do anything without talking it through first with my client.
